In January 2026, during acultural exchange activity, an Argentine youth, who was using the camera to record the event, caught the reporter's attention. Upon further conversation, it turned out he was a well-known "internet celebrity." From Argentina, to the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, Xi'an, 29-year-old Rama carries his passion for Chinese language and culture, through every stroke of character and every vibe of the city, writing hisunique story in China.

打开拉玛的社交媒体账号，满是接地气的西安生活纪实：《老外找到最地道的肉夹馍》《外国人眼中的唐代表演》《一天在西安》《庆祝冬至节日》……大量短视频记录着他在古都的点滴日常。

In Rama's social media account, there are authenticlife clips in Xi'an: "LaowaiFinds the Most Authentic Roujiamo", "Tang Dynasty Style Performances Through Foreign Eyes", "One Day in Xi'an", "Celebrating Winter Solstice" and so on… Numerous short videos record his everyday experiences in this ancient capital.

“来中国前，我是一名演员，但我并不想在视频里刻意表演，只想原汁原味地记录。”旅游打卡、街头美食、生活趣事、钢琴弹唱……一条条鲜活的短视频，真实又有趣，让越来越多的网友跟随这位外籍青年的镜头，从多样的视角，看到了一个温暖生动的西安。

"Before coming to China, I was an actor, but I didn't want to perform in my video; I just wanted to record things as they truly are," says Rama. Whether it is exploring tourist spots, sampling street food, amusing daily moments, or piano and singing covers, all these livelyclips attract more and more netizens to followthis young foreigner's lens, and discover a warm and vivid Xi'an from diverse perspectives.

拉玛是一位留学生，2026年初，学校放寒假，拉玛没有回国，打算在西安过年。他拍摄的短视频《外国留学生怎么在中国过寒假》意外收获许多关注，许多网友热情帮助，隔空告诉他在西安怎么过年，还提供吃、玩、旅游攻略等，全网互动让拉玛倍感惊喜：“我感觉像回到家一样，大家都那么友善。西安的好去处太多了，根本跑不过来！”

Rama is an international student. In early 2026,his school was on winter break. Rather than return to his home country, he decided to spend the Spring Festival here in Xi'an. Meanwhile, he took a video titled "How International Students Spend Winter Break in China" and gained widespread attention unexpectedly. Many netizens' hospitable help, sharing tips on how to celebrate the holiday in Xi'an, providing dining, entertainment, and travel guides, deeply surprised Rama. "It feels like being at home. Everyone is so kind. There are so many great places in Xi'an, which makes it impossible to visit them all!"

Discovering Chinese, Appreciating the Meaning of "Chang'an"

拉玛在西安有许多朋友，这缘于他能说一口流利的中文。

Rama has made many friends in Xi'an, because he can speak fluent Mandarin.

他的母语是西班牙语，年少时学过英语。彼时阿根廷首都布宜诺斯艾利斯的中国城车水马龙，汉语的使用场景也越来越多，这让他敏锐地感知到中文的实用价值与未来潜力。

His native language is Spanish, andhe has learned English when he was a child. Back then, the Chinatown in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, was in constant hustle and bustle, with growing use of Chinese. It struck him that there was practical value and future potential in Chinese.

15岁那年，拉玛在家乡的语言学校第一次接触中文；十年光阴流转，25岁时他重拾这份热爱，即便学业繁忙，也从未中断汉语学习。他在孔子学院开启线上中文学习之旅，从一周一次的课程，主动增加到一周两次，没有人强制要求，唯有发自内心的热爱。

At the age of 15, Rama, for the first time, took his Chinese class at a local language school. Ten years later, at 25, he rekindled his passion and, despite a busy schedule,continued to study Chinese. Taking his Chinese course online atConfucius Institute, he later voluntarilyincreased his weekly classes from one to two sessions entirely out of hisheartfelt love.

“偏旁是我的好朋友，”领悟汉字构字逻辑后的拉玛，瞬间豁然开朗：他细细琢磨“主意、注意、主义”的细微差别，拆解“学”字里藏着的“孩子求学”的深意，留意“兴趣”的“趣”带着聆听的“耳朵”，甚至从“西安”的字形里，读出“居中安稳、有山守护”的踏实，从“长安”之名里，读懂了“长治久安”的美好祝福……

"Radicals are my best friends," Rama said.After figuring out how Chinese characters are built, suddenly, everything clicked for him. He carefully found out the subtle differences between words like "主意(idea)", "注意(attention)", and "主义(doctrine)"; discovered themeaning hidden in "学(study)", which means "孩子求学(childseeking knowledge)"; noticed that "趣(interest)" resembles "聆听的耳朵(an listening ear)"; even read into the character "西安" a sense of stability and protection by mountains, and "长安" out of the beautiful blessing of "长治久安(long-lasting peace and stability)".

这些藏在汉字里的智慧与浪漫，让拉玛沉醉。他格外享受用钢笔书写汉字的过程，在一笔一画间感受中文的结构美与意境美，也常和阿根廷老乡用中文交流内心感受，让语言成为连接心灵的桥梁。

All the wisdom and romance hidden within Chinese characters captivate Rama. He particularly enjoys writing Chinese characters with a fountain pen, feeling their structural and poetic beauty stroke by stroke. He often shares his thoughts in Chinese with fellow Argentines, turning the language into a bridge betweenhearts.

“中文在世界上会越来越重要。”采访中，拉玛一边喝着家乡的马黛茶，一边笃定地对记者说。

"Chinese will become increasingly important around the world," Rama told the reporter with conviction, sipping mate tea from his homeland.

行走中国成为文化交流使者

Traveling Across China, Becoming a Cultural Ambassador

2024年暑假，27岁的拉玛参加了孔子学院组织的夏令营，第一次踏上中国的土地。三周的西安之行，小寨的繁华、兵马俑的恢弘、钟楼的雄伟、城墙下的烟火气，让他彻底爱上了这座城市。

In the summer of 2024, 27-year-old Rama joined a summer camp organized by the Confucius Institute, stepping onto China for the first time. His three-week trip to Xi'an—the bustle of Xiaozhai, the grandeur of the Terracotta Warriors, the majestic Bell Tower, and the vibrant life along the City Wall—made himcompletely in love with the city.

2025年，他成功申请成为语言生，正式赴西安求学。

In 2025, he successfully got accepted as alanguage student and officially began his studies in Xi'an.

拉玛的学习，从不止于课堂，更在行走的路上。热爱旅游的他，练就了“交通达人”的本领，靠自己摸索出旅路线，还娴熟掌握地铁换乘与高铁出行流程。

For Rama, learning extends far beyondclassrooms; it continues on the road. As a travel lover, he has honed his skillsas a "transportation expert", independently mapping out travel routes and becoming adept at subway transfers and high-speed rail travel.

在西安的日子里，拉玛与伙伴们一起观灯展、诵唐诗、登城墙，参加各种文化活动，他的热情健谈，感染了很多人。

During his stay in Xi'an, Rama enjoyed lantern festivals, recited Tang poems, climbed the City Wall, and participated in various cultural exchange activities with his friends. His enthusiasm and outgoing personality inspired many around him.

一次在大唐芙蓉园观看大型历史情景剧《梦回大唐》，演出结束，他走上舞台上与演员们交流，他对剧中的“杨贵妃”说：“您的妆容服饰为什么这么漂亮，我要把这些全部拍下来，让网友们感受什么是东方之美。”

After watching thehistorical performance "Dreaming Back to the Tang Dynasty" at the Tang Paradise, he stepped onto the stageto chat with the actors.
